History (Continued)

These concerns were reconciled as follows:

(l) The ARC became a sub-club under the Employee Service & Recognition (ES&R) section of the Human Resources Department covered by the umbrella insurance policy of Caltech and providing some financial support as well.

2) The membership was resolved to include two classes; (a) active (retired individuals and their spouses) with voting rights, and (b) associate members (pre-retirees still working) without voting rights.

(3) The litigation risk exposure, which might hold the Laboratory responsible for potential technical activities conducted outside the CIT family over which JPL had no control, was alleviated by setting up a review process whereby anything the ARC published would be reviewed and approved by the JPL/ARC Coordinator.

Primarily a socially oriented group with technical volunteer activity, an important objective of the group is information transfer from earlier retirees to those planning retirement.

ARC is staffed with an all-volunteer Board of Officers and Committee Members.
